Chispa is born of the hearts of Marci Diamond and Clara LaFrance, long time circus performers and instructors as well as artists, actors, dancers, and active community members.
Clara is a performing aerialist on trapeze, single point trapeze, tissu and rope. Most recently she was gigging, touring, and coaching in San Francisco. She’s co-directed youth troupes and taught at all levels. She’s performed at prestigious art museums and galleries, elite galas, and from the mast of a 90′ tall ship. She loves the combination of strength, grace, and momentum to drive an act and the story that ties an act together, and the magic of the stage to draw us together.
Marci is the founder and director of Diamond Circus. Marci’s training includes circus skills, performance, and teacher training at the New England Center for Circus Arts, the San Francisco Circus Center, and Circus Arts Institute with alumni of Cirque du Soleil, Cirque Eloize, Ringling, and Big Apple, as well as additional training in physical theater and acting for film. A proud member of the Screen Actors Guild, Marci has performed in fairs, fundraising events, shows, clubs, film, and a national TV commercial, and was half of the duo trapeze act voted finalist in the USA Today/NCL Epic Star contest. She is also an active member of the American Youth Circus Organization. Marci loves sharing the joy, creation, and healing human connection found in performing and teaching circus.
